REM610 is used as a motor protection device to protect, measure and monitor large and medium-sized asynchronous low-voltage motors and small and medium-sized asynchronous high-voltage motors in manufacturing and processing industries.

REM601 is a member of the 610 product series of ABB's Relion® product family. The product range includes feeder, motor protection devices and general system voltage monitoring protection devices. The plug-in design facilitates the debugging of the switch device and also makes the insertion and removal of the device's plug-in faster and safer.

In many applications, protective devices can be used in conjunction with circuit breakers and contactor controlled motor drives. The functionality of the device is enhanced by using an expansion card with RTD sensors or thermistor elements, allowing direct measurement of the temperature of critical motor components such as bearings and windings. Thanks to thermal overload protection taking precedence over phase overcurrent protection, ground fault protection and phase unbalance protection, the device can also be used to protect cable feeders and distribution transformers.
