The Field Control Processor 270 (FCP270) is a distributed, optionally fault-tolerant, field-mounted controller module designed for regulatory, logic, timing, and sequential control in conjunction with connected Fieldbus Modules. It also handles data acquisition, alarm detection, and notification tasks. The FCP270 connects to The MESH control network via standard fiber optic 100 Mbps Ethernet. In its fault-tolerant configuration, the FCP270 features two processor modules installed in adjacent slots on a supported baseplate, enabling high-speed communication between the modules (see Figure).

• Rugged, die-cast aluminum housing for non-vented field enclosure mounting.

• Operates in Class G3 harsh environments and is CE certified for field mounting.

• Supports simultaneous use of 2 Mbps or 268 Kbps HDLC fieldbuses with FBI200 or FBI100.

• Offers patented fault-tolerant operation with two control modules for enhanced reliability.

• Uses versatile control algorithms and a variety of FBMs for diverse process applications.

• Supports time synchronization via optional external GPS.

• Allows online image update of fault-tolerant FCP270 without process shutdown.

• Configurable soft letterbugs using I/A Series® system Letterbug Configurator on a Pocket PC.

• Supports self-hosting mode with I/A Series software v8.4-v8.8 or Foxboro Evo™ Control Core Services v9.0 or later.
