The TU818 is a 32-channel, 50 V Compact Module Termination Unit (MTU) for the ABB S800 I/O system.
It is a passive unit used for connecting field wiring to I/O modules and also incorporates part of the ModuleBus.
The MTU distributes the ModuleBus to the connected I/O module and forwards it to the next MTU in the chain. It also generates the correct I/O module address by shifting the outgoing position signals to the subsequent MTU.
Two mechanical keys are used to configure the MTU for different types of I/O modules. This configuration is purely mechanical and does not affect the functionality of either the MTU or the I/O module. Each key has six selectable positions, allowing for a total of 36 possible configurations.
