Schneider Electric and Hung Yu Electric Launch IEC 61439 Okken Switchboard

Schneider Electric and Hung Yu Electric Join Forces for IEC 61439-Compliant Okken Switchboard

Schneider Electric has officially partnered with Taiwan-based Hung Yu Electric to introduce the Okken Authorized Switchboard, a fully IEC 61439-compliant solution. This milestone marks the fusion of international safety standards with local manufacturing excellence, addressing the growing demand for secure and reliable power systems in Taiwan’s high-tech industries.

Setting a New Benchmark with IEC 61439 Global Standard

The IEC 61439 standard defines the gold standard for low-voltage switchboard safety and reliability, encompassing modular design, insulation strength, arc resistance, and overload endurance. Through this collaboration, Schneider Electric grants Hung Yu Electric full production authorization for Okken switchboards that have passed internal arc testing and meet the highest safety benchmarks. This initiative not only reduces delivery time but also accelerates Taiwan’s advancement in secure and efficient power infrastructure.

Safety and Continuity: The Core of Okken Design

The Okken Authorized Switchboard features a Form 4b segregation design, ensuring complete isolation between operational interfaces and live components. Even under arc fault conditions, this structure minimizes risk and maintains personnel safety. Its modular, withdrawable drawer-type configuration allows for seamless expansion and maintenance without power interruption—perfectly supporting the “zero downtime” operational goal of modern industrial facilities.

Standardization Meets Flexibility for Operational Excellence

With its standardized yet customizable design, the Okken switchboard streamlines every phase—from design and assembly to testing. Unified specifications simplify engineering processes, shorten project timelines, and enhance staff training efficiency. The result is a solution that reduces operational costs while maintaining the flexibility to adapt to diverse production and load demands.

Empowering Taiwan’s High-Tech Industry Through Local Collaboration

As AI data centers and semiconductor manufacturing continue to scale, the demand for safe and efficient power systems intensifies. Schneider Electric’s Taiwan President, Angelene Ku, emphasized that the partnership with Hung Yu Electric enables “global technology, locally co-created,” ensuring that Taiwan’s power systems align with international standards while benefiting from agile, local supply chains.

Driving Sustainable Growth and Future-Ready Energy Solutions

Hung Yu Electric’s General Manager, Chia-Jung Chan, highlighted the company’s 40-year legacy and expertise across technology, transport, and public infrastructure sectors. By adopting the Okken platform, Hung Yu delivers switchboards with superior arc resistance and insulation protection—essential for high-density, mission-critical environments.

Looking ahead, Schneider Electric aims to deepen local collaborations to deliver smarter, safer, and more sustainable energy management solutions—supporting Taiwan’s continued industrial and technological growth.
